Biography

Pianist Igor Seme, born in LjubljanaSlovenia, finished his studies in 2002 at the Music Academy in his hometown.

 

During his school time he took parts in many different chamber music ensembles. He twice won the national competitions in chamber music and once in piano-solo program. He was also awarded with the special national prize for Best young accompanist.

 

During his studies he

  • collaborated with professors: Marina Horak, Ivana Švarc - Grenda, Igor Bravničar, Vladimir Krpan, Oxana Yablonskaja, Arbo Valdma etc
  • performed solo, in chamber music ensembles and even with string- orchestra
  • played all over his home country at music schools, congress and cultural centers, castles, at many festivals and competitions, in Cankarjev dom and Slovenian Philharmonic hall in Ljubljana, and in Boesendorfer hall in Vienna

 

Igor Seme was twice honoured to play with national prize winners oboist Matjaž Rebolj and cellists Karmen Pečar and Jaka Stadler at the European Music Competitions for youth in Weimar, Germany and Oslo, Norway.

 

As the member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association) he collaborates at the World Piano Pedagogy Conferences in Las Vegas and in Orlando, USA.

 

He was performing with a star violinist Anja Bukovec at numerous and various occasions throughout Slovenia. They reached their top as they were honoured to perform on Slovenian's National Day ceremony.

 

Nowadays he collaborates in duos with violist Muriel Schweizer, pianist Marina Horak, tubist Luka Einfalt, sopranos Urška Breznik and Katja Konvalinka, singers Eva Hren, Nuška Drašček, Bojana Glatz and Barbara Studer and with violinist JaYoung Jeon. With Jeon they performed together in Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and in South Korea.

He is taking part in different performances with actresses Violeta Tomič and Tina Gorenjak.

 

A few seasons ago, while living in Slovenia, he was taking part in the orchestras playing at musical performances Chicago, Suite in three keys, Cabaret, Avenue Q and as musical director in Full monty.

 

For more than 10 years he has been teaching piano at music schools Ljubljana Vič - Rudnik  and Kamnik, where he was honoured with a special diploma for his pedagogy success.


Slovenian government gave him the highest status award in pedagogical success for his piano teachings.

 

Since 2002 he is a member of Lions club Domžale and is involved in various charity activities.

 

Since 2012/13 Igor lives in Meilen, Switzerland.

He teaches at music schools  Hombrechtikon, ZH and Richterswil, ZH.
